Hike, ATV, Sightsee in the Caribou Hills

The Caribou Hills (or as locals say, “the hills”) is a popular year-round recreation area on The Kenai, Alaska’s Playground. This vast area is located just 50 mils south of Kenai and Soldotna, 25 mils north of Homer and 15 miles east of Ninilchik.

The Caribou Hills features miles of old seismographic trails left over from the 1960’s and the early oil exploration days in Alaska.

The Caribou Hills offer excellent areas for the entire family to get out and enjoy a day of hiking. You can drive right up into the hills and many trails are easily accessible right out of your door.

But be warned, if you are going to head up to the hills with your ATV this time of year, be prepared for mud and lots of it.
